This session was very special to me as a newborn and child photographer. It’s my passion to capture memories and portrait art that will last forever and be handed down from generation to generation. In this session we made plans to capture this baby girl’s portraits on our studio rocking horse.
The rocking horse was given to me by a very special family from church who was kind enough to think of me when they were getting rid of their old kid’s toys. This was a family with six girls of their own, all grown up for the most part, and no longer in need of the family rocking horse. I was so honored that they thought this little horse could play a special role in my studio.
Over the past year this rocking horse has been in many kid portraits, including some with my own little ones. It’s such a classic toy. Many kids tend to grow up with a rocking horse of some sort in their home and a portrait like this can be a fun way to incorporate a treasured family toy into your portrait and keep it around forever. For families who don’t come to their children’s portrait session with a favorite toy it’s always heart-warming to see them on our rocking horse and to know a little piece of our studio is going home with them.
This, however, was our first baby to fall asleep on our horse and gave us with such beautiful moment that we were so happy to capture for the family. This little baby girl who was just three months old is named Willow, and I knew instantly that after a year of watching over our studio, this rocking horse now had a name.
Come by and see Willow the Horse anytime, and take a look at these gorgeous portraits of Willow: The baby that named our rocking horse.
