Newborns grow and change faster than you can imagine. They will never be the same size or have the same tiny features they did at one week old. After two weeks of life some babies no longer prefer the tight fetal position they once enjoyed in the womb, which help make great newborn portraits.

That’s why we take the time during our newborn sessions to document how small and precious they are now in this moment that you will never see again. We focus on both creative portraiture to design an image that will resonate with mom and dad, and we also focus on relationship portraiture to capture the bond between the family and newborns that is so incredible during this time.

When To Schedule Your Newborn Portrait

Newborn portraits are best to schedule while baby is still in the womb. It helps for parents to plan ahead farther in advance with a newborn session because as you can imagine, things can get overwhelming once baby arrives. Scheduling your newborn session ahead of time takes the stress out of the process and prevents parents from forgetting more to do item.

Since newborns photograph best during the first two weeks of life, we typically suggest planning for a session between five and ten days old. Although we will design and capture a stunning portrait for any that you bring your baby to us. Newborns, however, are typically at their sleepiest, most content and more inclined to be positioned in the typical newborn poses in their first couple weeks.

What To Expect

Every session begins with a free Pre Consultation with the photographer to discuss your needs and our vision for your perfect portrait. We pride ourselves on providing beautiful, creative and heirloom quality portraiture, wall art and albums to be admired by your family for generations to come, and we use the pre consult time to get a better idea of how we can best do that for you. During this meeting you also get detailed information about our pricing and packages and it’s our goal to ensure you have all the information you need to make the right investment for your family before you book with us.

The Session

We pencil in baby’s due date on the calendar once you book with us, but confirm the exact date once baby is here, since baby’s arrival can be unpredictable. We know there are more important people in your life than us but we do ask for you to you to keep us on your notification list so there is no delay in your session date.
Newborn portrait sessions are typically scheduled during the week in the morning around 9am. A couple days prior to the session we you will receive an email from us with some last minute reminders and confirmation of anything we discussed in the consultations. When you arrive the morning of your session will get to relax on our comfy couches and feed and change baby as we make final preparations. We keep the studio warm for baby’s comfort and we provide snacks, water, coffee, light music, sound machines and anything else you can imagine will help the session go smoothly.
Most importantly, our number one goal during the session is to keep baby safe and happy. We take as many breaks as necessary to let you feed baby and practice safe baby posing and handling at all times. We make every effort to stay up to date with the latest in baby safety techniques and we continuously train with and learn from mentors and top photographer’s in the industry through Professional Photographers of America and various courses throughout the year.

After The Session

Once your session is completed you will hear from us with in the first few days to let you know how gorgeous your images are looking and we will even share an image or two with you since we know how anxious you will be to see them. The full gallery is typically ready within three weeks and sometime in the first two weeks we schedule a date on the calendar for your session reveal.
During your reveal you come back to the studio to with your significant other or anyone who will need to be there to make image selection and purchasing decisions. We will spend one to two hours reviewing each image from your curated gallery in detail and putting together any album or wall layouts you have decided to purchase. All purchases are made at that time and you can expect to receive your gorgeous art within a week. We will even personally deliver it to your home and help you hang or place in in your home if you wish.

Pricing

Newborn session fees at $350 and portrait packages start at $675. Client’s typically invest between $1000-$2000 in their wall and album portrait collections.
