I’ll admit, Valentine’s day is not my favorite day of the year. It’s not even my second or third. I’d go so far as to say, I don’t like Valentine’s day. But it is a day on the calendar none-the-less and since I can’t just sleep through it, I choose every year to embrace it with open arms (usually the night before).
As I walk down the store aisles trying to find gifts for my kids’ classmates and teachers I realize I don’t want to buy any of this for my kids. Which lead me to ask a question. What do other people do for their kids on this very visible and obvious holiday that we just can’t seem to ignore. I’m happy I asked because I got some great ideas:
“Growing up we made homemade cards for every member of the family (3 kids) and that was always a fun activity at home. Never knew about the other hype till I was older. We always thought it was our parents holiday.” -Angelise
I love this idea and I’ll have the kids do homemade cards for each other from now on. Have you seen the prices on these cards lately? We don’t keep our cards so it’s just money in the trash.
Here were some other great ideas:
I’m really digging all the non candy suggestions! Thanks for the tips.
If you are still stuck on an idea for an older child or possibly your significant other. Always remember you can’t go wrong with a portrait session by your favorite studio.
